Staying underground in Coober Pedy is a unique experience! The room was spacious and clean, but the lack of air conditioning made it a bit too hot.

Rooms
7.0
Sleeping underground was a must in Coober Pedy, and the room was spacious and clean. However, the dirt falling from the ceiling was a continuous issue. Also, the lack of air conditioning and only having a fan made it a bit too hot at times.
Service
9.0
The staff was friendly and accommodating, especially Nancy, who helped us promptly with a booking change. We ended up extending our stay to 4 nights due to their helpfulness.
Location
6.0
The hotel is right in the middle of town, which is fantastic for exploring. However, the room location in a corner was a bit challenging to access. The area had some loud music and an overabundance of poker machines, which gave a depressing vibe.
Dining
7.0
The dining experience in the cave restaurant was nice, but for the price, it was pretty basic and not exceptional. The Spanish food was decent but nothing exceptional.
Facilities
8.0
The hotel offers laundry service, airport shuttle, paid airport shuttle options, a welcome drink, and tours/ticket assistance. However, some parts of the hotel looked like they needed refurbishment.

6.0/10

Staying at this hotel was a mixed experience. The rooms, though large and spacious, felt tired and outdated with remnants of the original 1980s decor. The balcony provided an interesting perspective, but the overall ambiance was reminiscent of a bygone era.

Rooms
6.0
The rooms were large and spacious, offering a unique experience with a balcony. However, the decor seemed outdated and tired, reflective of the 1980s style.
Service
7.0
The service was friendly and helpful, but some essential information had to be specifically requested. Despite offering an outside room with air conditioning and a balcony, cleanliness issues like dead bugs in the bathroom were noted.
Location
8.0
The location was convenient, being in the heart of Coober Pedy. However, the underground setting led to encounters with unwelcome guests like large roaches in the room.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience was limited due to renovations and the offerings were only adequate for the price. The presence of a cafe in the lovely part of Desert Cave Hotel was a positive highlight.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities seemed basic and in need of attention, especially considering the price paid for the stay.

7.8/10

The hotel's location is excellent, in the heart of town with superb dining options, but the rooms were a bit too hot and without air conditioning, only a fan. The service was top-notch with helpful and professional staff assisting us all the time. The dining experience, while good with tasty food, fell short compared to exceptional restaurant dinners. On the bright side, the hotel provided various services like laundry, airport shuttle, welcome drink, and tours/ticket assistance.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms, though a bit too hot without air conditioning, were still comfortable and surprisingly quiet due to the walls being thick stone.
Service
9.0
The staff were always friendly and helpful, making us feel well taken care of throughout our stay.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location was hard to reach where our room was situated in the corner, but excellent for exploring the town and enjoying nearby eateries and shops.
Dining
7.0
The dining experience was good with plenty of tasty food available, although it didn't match the exceptional dinners offered in the hotel restaurant.
Facilities
8.0
The facilities were satisfactory, offering various services and amenities to enhance our stay.
